This paper addresses the development of ways and means of reducing the quantities of supplies in the "pipelines" of the supply system and still maintain effective support to the combat forces. Issues include the fact that air transport decreases order and shipping time, quantities in stockpiles, excess stocks, that air transport allows lower stock levels, and that air transport is economical.
