The Days of Time

Mangravite, Andrew
The Days of Time
This is a collection of cinquains written from the time of my last collection Lenting up to the present time. Although the cinquain form is only about one hundred years old, it has roots that reach as far back as Ancient Greece and Rome. Epigrammatic, it also touches upon Asian poetic traditions. Although the poems are short, they are not, I trust, inconsequential.

A BOOK OF CINQUAINS

Mangravite, Andrew
A BOOK OF CINQUAINS
The cinquain is a five-line twenty-two syllable verse form created by Adelaide Crapsey in response to the tanka and haiku forms which were then coming into vogue among English-language poets. Because it is a western form, the cinquain is more expansive and rhetorical. It lends itself to a variety of uses. A Book of Cinquains contains poems that are descriptive, humorous, meditative and dramati
