Is the standard story of analytic philosophy true that the logic of Frege and Russell prove the traditional syllogistic logic of Aristotle and Kant to be dispensable? In this work, Michael Wolff argues that modern systems of deductive logic depend on syllogistic principles and on rules that can be rendered in syllogistic language but the validity of which must be postulated. If correct, the standard story about logic must be reconsidered.
