A Primer of Hebrew Antiquities (Classic Reprint)

Excerpt from A Primer of Hebrew AntiquitiesFurthermore, it is important to recognise that the Israelites did not stand entirely alone among the peoples of the world. For it is quite certain that the usages which prevailed among them and the language which they spoke were nearly identical with those of the other races, such as the Canaanites and' the Moabites, which dwelt near them. The Hebrews exhibited many features of closest resemblance to other races which in common with them are called Semitic, viz., the Arabs of the South, the Aramaeans or Syrians of the North, and the Assyrians and Babylon ians on the East. Modern archaeology is continually demonstrating this with increasing clearness, and we shall make use of some of its results in throwing all the light we can upon the antiquities of Israel.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
