Luke Richey is a farmhand. He is succumbed to a Farmer's beautiful wife. An affair happens. The farmer finally recognizes what is happening. He finds them in the hayloft early one morning, kills her with his shotgun and blasts Luke as he escapes through loft door. Gun pellets hit him on his legs. The land owner and his wife treat his wounds. The wounds heal quickly. The land owner suggests that he leave the area. He leaves and travels to Savannah, Georgia. He changes his name to Scotty Jones for protection! He arrives in Savannah. He is directed to Miss Emma's boarding house and bar restaurant. He relates to the lady on his qualifications as a diver. She locates a job with a shrimp boat company. The shrimp boat makes many runs. He saves the owner's life which elevates him in the society culture of the town. Tammy finishes law school and begins her practice. She is a friend of Miss Emma. Luke relates to her his status. Miss Emma asks Tammy to be his lawyer. He confides in her. In the social life, he now is pushed by Miss Emma to sing in her restaurant and bar room. People are overwhelmed with him. Tammy and Emma practically force him to go back and clear himself with the Law in his home county. They travel back with a host of his new friends. Tammy protects him from the local county political machine. He gives his testimony. The farmer is convicted. A surprise follows his testimony in the end!
