And almost all things are by the law purged with blood, and without shedding of blood is no remission." That is what God's Word adamantly and peremptorily declares in Hebrews 9: 22.If forgiveness of our sins and our eternal salvation depend exclusively upon the shedding of blood, it is of the utmost importance that we ask ourselves a number of questions: "The shedding of whose blood?" "Has that blood been shed?" "If yes, when was that?" "Where did it happen?" "What are the consequences of that blood shedding?" "How can we be sure that the blood that was shed is adequate and potent enough to guarantee us eternal salvation?" "What is implied by salvation, anyway?" And most of all, "How can we appropriate the benefits of that blood?"
