Visiting family in California, Dorothy and her cat Eureka are enjoying a carriage ride with her cousin Zeb and his horse Jim. When an earthquake appears out of nowhere, however, the group fall through the earth to the Land of the Mangaboos, a hostile people who blame the intruders for causing the disaster.
