On trouve au verso du frontispice gravé de l'exem plaire corrigé par Montaigne une page manuscrite, sans titre mais qui n'est autre chose qu'un avis à l'im primeur, ce qui prouve évidemment que cet° exemplaire devoit servir de copie pour la nouvelle édition qu'il projetoit, et dont la mort de ce philosophe a privé le public. Cet avis, qui est fort court, est important sous plusieurs rapports, et mérite d'être lu on le trouvera à la suite de cet avertissement.
