This third book in the series depicts a power struggle in Berlin's underworld, with Rath growing bored of surveillance of gangster Abraham Goldstein and taking on a private case for his underworld associate Johann Marlow. Nazism also begins to rear its head in this 1931-set story, continuing the action that began with the now-TV adapted "Babylon Berlin".
