Nick Hennegan is an award-winning director, writer and producer. But he wasn't always! As an unknown writer and former BRMB and BBC Radio presenter with little profile, little money and modest success in the U.K.'s Second City, Birmingham, England, he followed his blind belief that he could make theatre more accessible and established the Maverick Theatre Company.

And he kept a diary of this early struggle.

This is the story of getting a show on. The reality of 'showbiz', warts an' all.

Script deadlines, auditioning kids, dealing with agents and venues, the death of Princess Diana, famous directors and TV stars - Nick wrote a stream of consciousness account of a memorable time.
