Bhagat Singh wrote this article while in jail and it was published in Lahore newspaper "The People" on 27 September 1931. The freedom fighter Baba Randhir Singh was imprisoned in the Central Jail of Lahore between 1930-31. He was a religious person who suffered greatly knowing that Bhagat Singh did not believe in God. He somehow managed to reach Bhagat Singh's dungeon and tried to convince him of the existence of God. Failing, Baba got angry and said, "Your mind is spoiled by fame and you have become egoistic which stands between you and God like a black screen. Bhagat Singh wrote this article only in response to this comment.
