Man and Nature in God

Sandelands, Lloyd E.

Man and Nature in God

Contemporary culture puts human beings at the center of the universe. As a consequence, subjectivism is rampant. Sandelands sees humans as fundamentally spiritual beings, with spirit and body united, and therefore human sexuality as part of God's design. In contrast, today's culture encourages hedonism, indulgence, and permissiveness. "Anything goes" today, as long as it does not hurt anyone else. Sandelands believes this perspective is profoundly misguided, arguing that it carries with it a high social price in promiscuity, homosexuality, and extra-marital sex. He makes a compelling case for a return to a traditional perspective of male and female relationships, one that sees human beings as part of nature, not above it.
