Mediatorial Sovereignty, Vol. 2 of 2

Steward, George

Mediatorial Sovereignty, Vol. 2 of 2

Excerpt from Mediatorial Sovereignty, Vol. 2 of 2: The Mystery of Christ and the Revelation of the Old and New TestamentsThe Throne cannot but be the sequel of the Cross, since ascendancy is due to moral greatness, and is the position proper to attest this truth, on which the stability of the universe depends. The history of actions is but the history Of principles and those which God unfolds as the highest in His character, and as essential to His nature, are those which form the soul of His government, and to which all creatures must do homage. The scriptures which connect the exaltation of Christ with his cross, are too numerous and familiar to require separate notice, and we are content with those passages in the Apocalypse which ascribe to him worthiness as the Lamb' slain, ' to receive worship from the universe, because these do, in fact, but recapitulate the general testimony of Scripture on this point, while they present it in the most vivid form. Thus, They sang a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the hook, and to unloose the seals thereof: for thou wast slain and again, Every creature that is in hea ven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that is in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, he unto Him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb, for ever and ever.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
