Queer joins the Grove list for the first time, where it unites with all of Burroughs's other seminal works, including Junky and Naked Lunch, as well as books by other Beat writers.Burroughs is one of the keystone authors of the Grove backlist, and his books continue to sell. Our 2013 reissue of Naked Lunch has sold over 110, 000 copies in paperback and ebook, and our 2012 reissue of Junky has sold around 50, 000 copies in both formats. Queer is one of the highest-selling books by Burroughs.Although the book wasn't published until 1985, it was originally written in 1952, so we are republishing on the seventieth anniversary of its year of writing.Roberto de Vicq Cumptich has designed the new cover to match the series look for our other Burroughs titles, this time with a fresh photographic addition to the all-type treatments.The book features an introduction by Oliver Harris, the eminent Burroughs scholar.We will undertake course adoption initiatives and other academic outreach for Queer in tandem with our other Burroughs titles.
