Colonel joseph W. Vance. Age 47, date of commission August 12, 1862. Battles: Chickasaw Bayou, Arkansas Post Vicksburg, Jackson July 30, 1863, home on furlough returned to Regiment November 6, 1863, at New Iberia, Louisiana, Sabine Cross Roads, where killed April 8, 1864, buried at Mt. Vernon, Ohio. He commanded a brigade during the greater portion of his service. His children are at Mt. Vernon, Ohio.
