Wartime munitions factory workers Maggie and Julia struggle to keep their hopes and dreams on track against a Second World War backdrop, with Maggie attempting to plan her wedding and Julia getting used to not being at Oxford University as planned but instead overcoming the intimidated feeling the laughter of the other women brings out of her.
