The Dreamers - Noora's Quest

Noora, an Australian indigenous girl stolen from her people, is forced to live in a Mission school. Treated as a number and told how lucky she is to be a part of true civilized life, Noora remembers the myths her mother told her and the songs she sang. She remembers the names of the animals, and how to talk to them in the friendliest of ways. When an opportunity comes, she escapes to look for her three guardians who can help her find a way back home, just as her mom told her in her dreams. From a small, sleepy hamlet, Alice and Rocky embark on separate yet equally important quests. Alice, a sheep who lives in a barn on a not-so-tasty field, runs away to search for the most delicious, greenest grass there is. Rocky, a friendly goat, is bored of his stomping grounds around the hamlet and goes on a quest for the tallest cliff to climb. Nina, a giraffe, outsmarts the dimwitted officials from a Sydney zoo and escapes because she wants to return to her African home. She makes her way into the bush where she meets Rocky and Alice. Alice, Rocky, and Nina cross paths with Noora and they decide to travel together. Moved by Noora's story about being a Stolen Girl, Alice, Rocky, and Nina give up their quests to help Noora find her three guardians to guide her home. The Dreamers-Noora's Quest teaches us about the Stolen Generation of Australia's indigenous people and introduces the highlights of Australian flora and fauna. Most importantly, it encourages us to pursue life-long goals while promoting commitment and friendship, a loving-kindness that is inseparable from learning and respecting our heritage and the nature nesting within us.
